The Hickory Experience

Playing golf with Hickory clubs is an experience in it’s self. These beautiful, hand made clubs that are a minimum of 85 years old, change a pleasant day out in to an unforgettable and special experience.

Iron heads that were hand forged by Scottish craftsmen; wooden heads lovingly made by professionals and clubmakers alike. Hickory that arrived on a boat from America and was seasoned for 2 years and then made into shafts in Scotland. The( customised) shafts were then fitted into clubs by professionals. Fantastic smelling leather grips completed the process. Your club became your companion, they had names (for example, mashie) instead of numbers and players grew to love and appreciate their individual qualities. They clubs were made by specialist’s, professionals and sometimes even by great champions. When you tee off with a brassie from Cann and Taylor, there is a good chance that Open champion (J H Taylor) may have once held it in his hand.

Playing with hickory clubs is more satisfying than playing with modern clubs, you receive more feedback, and it seems that you automatically make a slower more rhythmical swing, you will enjoy the challenge and appreciate every successful swing. Distance becomes less important and every par feels like a birdie.
